First Wedding Cake

Well, this past weekend, i completed my very first three tier wedding cake! I started friday afternoon, and finished early saturday evening. What a whirlwind!! I swear i lean something new every cake i make, and this cake i learned not to compromise. You see, when i met with the bride, she stated she wanted her cake to be a certain boxed mix that was her favorite. I expressed my reservations, that boxed cake is not wedding cake material in my opinion, because it is very soft and falls apart easily. Needless to say i received an email later telling me she would like the top and bottom boxed, and my vanilla in the middle…. yikes! So, i told her i would try my best to find a way to make the mix more stable, but in the end it just didn’t cut it! Let’s just say i had a small mess on my hands and was near tears!! So, i made it all work in the end… but never again! I felt like a nervous bride myself driving that cake to the venue! Here’s the cake, safe and sound!

More and more, God is teaching me confidence. He gave me a backbone for a reason, and it needs to be used more often especially when it prevents potential catastrophe’s !!
