Come, come and walk with Me, Before time elapses and life is no more. Take My hand, My friend, take My hand Hold it near unto your heart Reaffirm love and friendship. Come, come and walk with Me, Before flowers turn pretty little heads downward, Before red, yellow, purple and pink turn to brown Smell fragrant clover, in the fields, down by the brook Feel the breeze on your face.
Come, come and walk with Me, While the sun still can warm your body While the sun still has power. Share the sweetness of your voice, Whilst my ears are still alive. Come, come and walk with Me, Before breathe is no more, Before eyes are shut forever, Before the light of heaven raptures one high And I am no longer free to walk with you. Come, come and walk with Me, Shed no tears but leap with joy, No longer is the spirit held captive Release from its prison of pain Release from prolonged carnal life. Come, come and walk with Me, While time still permits love to continue, While I can enjoy your presence, While you can still breathe, Come, come and walk with me, Before your time is no more. |
