How did you get into your area of work?
Well I have always been involved in Music in some way and I started leading worship in my small church 8 years ago and it just seems to be something that I found God could use me in. Two years ago I started to pursue my calling more seriously and that has lead me to change churches, and so I am not the “worship leader” anymore but God has kind of pushed me more into song writing, and I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream in making my CD, two of the songs I wrote are on my album and I feel like God has really stretched me in songwriting.
What is the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is to keep my perfectionism in check and letting God have control. I am a huge control freak so God has really been working on this area in me.
What are the benefits?
The benefit of letting God have control is that I am not responsible for the outcome. The pressure is off! Do I still have to work at the music and stuff? Of course, but when something doesn’t quite go the way I planned I can let God be responsible for that.
How do you put God into your work day?
Well what I do for a living is not what I am doing for my career! Right now I am working as a secretary to pay the bills, but even in that I must let God have control of where my career in Music goes. In my job I still need to glorify God so my attitude must always be right, because it doesn’t matter where I am, God has a plan in it and He will use it to glorify Himself!
What do you wish you could do differently?
Wow, now that is a loaded question! I wish I would have been more passionate about Jesus and being his follower earlier in my life so that I could have got more done in my lifetime, sometimes I really regret wasting my younger years!
What Bible verse do you think has encouraged you the most?
My Favorite verse that really encourages me when I am down is Romans 8:26-28 in the Message version.
Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
Do you get an opportunity to share you Christianity with others during your work? And if so, how?
Well at my job I am working in a church office so I get to share Jesus every single day! I feel so blessed to be in a totally Christian office where people genuinely love each other. Outside of the office when I am singing for different functions I get to share Jesus in my Music all the time and even with non believers because if they know you have a CD often they want to know more about it. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share Jesus!
Thanks Crystal!!
As I’ve come to know Crystal over the past few years everyone will know her heart seeking God and she is very real in her attitude. What a blessing to our PMS club team!
Are you interested in sharing your personal story? How does God affect you in the work place or at home, or in your ministry?
