My husband and i spent a fair bit of time on this cake…. I don’t own a cake airbrush (edible ink and all that jazz…) so we made our own stencils and used food coloring “paint” ( gel color and rum extract) to get the logo onto the fondant. I have to say it turned out pretty good! But i do have a few tips to share about painting on fondant:
1) When you dilute the color, you need to use an alcohol based product, because water will melt the fondant. Almond extract is good for when you need a clear liquid, but i usually use artificial rum because it smells good
2) unless you are sure if your skills/stencils , paint onto some separate fondant, and cut it out after it has dried a bit ( this was the case here!
)
3) Keep your hands clean, to avoid smudging! It can make you cry
Don’t worry about getting it exact! The resemblance alone is enough to WOW your guests!
Happy Caking!
